INTRODUCTION
Goring Local History Society was founded in February 1966 by a keen group of people from the village. Such was their enthusiasm that within a year they had accumulated an archive of documents and photographs which were used to mount an exhibition in the Village Hall. Soon Streatley was incorporated into the name of the Society and GSLHS went from strength to strength, recording, researching and promoting local history, organizing monthly talks and regular outings and publishing an annual journal.
Fifty years later, the Society renamed ‘Goring Gap’ LHS in 2015, is still thriving and has over 190 members. Today the aims and activities are similar to those of our founders and we hope you will enjoy our Golden Jubilee celebrations.
